Clare Davis hates everything about L.A. Well, almost everything…

Accustomed to a small town life in Nebraska, Clare is miserable in her new role as manager of an L.A. bookstore. She yearns to return to the simple life on her family’s farm. That is until she literally runs into up-and-coming movie star Dylan Barnes.

Dylan resents the Hollywood limelight. Awaiting the premiere of his first feature film, it would be nice to meet someone real—just not someone who rear-ends his BMW with her oversized truck. Dylan is instantly attracted to Clare and her Midwestern charm. And as he shows her the wonders of California, Clare can’t resist falling in love with the Golden State and its newest star.

From West Coast to East, friendship and love are equally complicated…

On the East Coast, Dylan’s childhood friend, Alex Popovich, loves his carefree life as a minor league ballplayer. He’s the man-whore of Brooklyn, playing the field in more ways than one. So when real feelings for his best friend erupt, Alex isn’t interested.

A gorgeous ballroom dancer-slash-office worker, Jenna Stecco wants her best friend, Alex, to take a leap from friends to more. Busy having one night stands, Alex is quick to let Jenna go, telling her it’s time to give up lost hopes and move on with life.

Complicated turns full on crazy with a tangled love square…

When Dylan returns to New York City, he meets up with Alex and is introduced to the stunning Jenna. Believing Clare is unavailable and Alex isn’t interested, Dylan and Jenna share a night of passion and embark on a long-distance relationship.

Everyone is thrown by this love square, as Dylan, Jenna, Alex, and Clare struggle with their feelings for each other. When Jenna reveals a secret that will change their lives, all hell breaks loose.

As the love square crumbles, the four friends must find a way to rebuild or risk losing love forever.

The Love Square eBook Jessica Calla

This book was a little on the unusual side. We've all heard of a love triangle, but a love square? There were so many way this book could have gone wrong and spiraled into some torrid, sex for the sake of revenge disaster. But I think the author did an amazing job keeping it classy.
From the very beginning you know who is going to end up together, but when Jenna and Dylan get together it'll throw you for a loop because they really do seem to fall-obsessively-in love with each other. Even though they have jealousy over what Clare and Alex are doing and who they are dating. The big twist ending threw me for a loop, as a matter of fact I'm still not sure I have my head wrapped around the idea. It seems... demented, well ok that is probably a very strong word for the situation but it's not an every day occurrence and there would be so many pit falls over the years that would easily disintegrate the whole arraignment. But it worked, especially for this specific story line.
I felt a little sorry for Alex and Claire, like they should have been given more of a chance to sleep together, just to even it out in the end. Though they each had their own, separate sexual experiences while Jenna and Dylan were together, I guess it's just my warped sense of justice otherwise.
I enjoyed the book, though I can definitely see how it would not be for everyone. It never really got too slow, but it was never action packed to begin with. It was really just one of those real life romance reads. Almost like all the events could happen to the reader or someone they know.

The Love Square eBook Jessica Calla Reviews

Clever, fresh, witty & quirky fun—squared. Loads better than the usual “love triangle”, hands down. You fall in love with the characters quick. It’s easy to get mad at them for going in different directions than you want them to go. The tension is palpable & I kept yelling at them to “spill it”. You wonder if they're ever going to get it right & are so happy when they finally figure it out.
“The Love Square” just works on so many levels.
This was a lovely novel and a great example of contemporary romance that is entertaining and well written. It sent me through every emotion, from happy to sad to laughing out loud and shedding a tear... A very enjoyable and rewarding read. Ms. Calla is a bright new talent. I look forward to hearing more from her in future.
I love this story! The characters are so visceral, as if I'm reading about people I know in real life. The story's pace is perfect, and kept me hooked from the start. Can't wait to read more from Jessica Calla.
Excellently plotted and paced romance from author Jessica Calla will keep you reading to find out how four young adults figure out the boundaries and possibilities in friendship and love. The story cleverly and effectively unfolds in alternating chapters from the four points of view. Missed opportunities, bad timing, incorrect assumptions and unexpressed thoughts and feelings add up to a whole lot of confusion before it is all sorted out in an ending that brings it all together and is completely satisfying. I was definitely invested in these characters and you will be too. Don’t miss this unusual take on the complexities of modern day romance and the very real struggle to define what really matters in relationships and life. I've heard that Ms. Calla has a new book coming out in May and I will be sure to download it!
If you like to read love triangles you're going to love The Love Square. This is Jessica's debut novel and she has done a wonderful job making me fall in love with all four characters. This story put me through a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed, got mad and even shed a tear - everything I love in a contemporary romance novel. I connected with all the characters and got three great love stories in one novel. I can't wait to read more by author Jessica Calla.
I was totally hooked by the concept of this book. With four people and three romantic pairings among them, I had no idea how the author was going to give all of these characters their happy ending. The book reads like a romance novel but without the predictability which I found fresh and unique. I've honestly never seen a book like this. I loved seeing two such strong male/female plutonic (somewhat) relationships blossom as these did. I think if you love movies like When Harry Met Sally, then you may enjoy The Love Square. I certainly did.
To me this was like reading a Tele -Novela. This book revolves around four people Clare, Dylan, Alex and Jenna. This was a romantic and funny story. Once I started reading this I had a hard time putting it down. It was an intriguing storyline and I loved the characters. At times I caught myself saying Don't do that or say something already. Can't wait to read more from this author.
