This is a wonderful Christmas story for the whole family! We read it together and discussed how Christmas time traditions have changed. The book inspired some meaningful family discussions about making good choices and the value of community. I think this will be a treasure in our home for many years.
A wonderful book! it takes us back to a simpler time when the joy of decorating an outdoor tree brought neighbors together to celebrate Christmas. The story of a tragic event is told through the eyes of an eight year old girl who loved Roy Rogers, her family, and especially her father and learned from his wisdom. It is based on an actual event.
"The Christmas Tree That Cried" is such an inspiring story of love and respect for family values and tradition. It is a story for all ages that teaches such lessons as never giving up, courage to do the right thing and repaying good for evil. What an amazing way this talented author centers so many valuable life lessons around a Christmas tree! This book is a treasure!
This book is a charming winter's read for children from five to early teens. It harkens back to a time when our country was a
kinder, gentler and safer place. The story carries the values of forgiveness, inclusiveness and community. I also loved that
it can't help but awaken a new appreciation forf trees. I thought it became a little over written towards the end, but I would highly recommend it for youngsters.
A wonderful story of a young girl's love of her hometown and elementary school in a tight knit neighborhood just after World War II. She recounts a holiday tradition of the neighborhood school, and the tragic vandalism of the school's Christmas tree, which shocked students and community. Through her father's wisdom, guidance, and lesson of forgiveness she was able to heal from the sadness she had felt and return to the happy go lucky Roy Rogers "Buckaroo" she had been. A nice Christmas story with old fashion values which will help renew your faith in humanity.
Loved it, but thought it was too expensive for a paperback.
I purchased this book as my daughter and family live in the Hilton area of Newport News, VA and
this is the area that the Christmas tree grew in. They had never heard the story and will treasure this
local history.
